Efrat Merin is a London-based artist and graduate of Turps Art School, currently pursuing a Painting MA at the RCA. Her work merges lesbo-futuristic and Judeo-futuristic mythologies, using the sgraffito technique she developed while exploring cold wax encaustic paint, in which layers are scratched and removed. Through an archaeological process of revealing hidden layers, her figures—often anthropomorphic women—embody desire, oppression, and liberation, navigating the limbo between birth and decay. In 2024, she was awarded the Arts Council England DYCP grant, and in 2023, she received an A-N Artist Bursary and was selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries. In 2022, Efrat won the Darbyshire Award for Emerging Art.

Her solo exhibitions include The Other Side of Paradise at Anima Mundi Gallery, St. Ives (2024), Atomic Relations at SVA, Stroud (2023), and Anima Mundi at Darbyshire Ltd (2023). Group exhibitions include shows at venues such as Camden Art Centre, Vincent van Gogh Huis Museum, Zundert, and Tel Aviv Museum. Her work has been featured in numerous publications, including Floorrr Magazine and ArtMaze Mag.
